1. Do You Actually Love Their Photography?

This sounds obvious, but it’s the most important place to start.

You want to see consistency in:

6. What Kind of Studio Environment Will You Be Walking Into?

This one matters more for boudoir than many other types of photography. You’re going to be vulnerable. You’re going to change clothes.You’re going to be photographed in intimate poses. You should feel completely comfortable with the environment and the people who will be there.

Before booking, find out:

• Where does the session take place?
• Is the space private?
• Who will be present?
• Is professional hair and makeup available?
• What does the studio look and feel like?
• Will you have time to relax before being photographed?

A beautiful photograph isn’t worth sacrificing your comfort.

The right environment should allow you to feel relaxed enough to forget about the camera.

7. What Happens to Your Images After the Session?

This is one of the questions I believe every boudoir client should ask. What is the photographer’s privacy policy?

You should know whether your photographs can be shared on a website, social media, advertising, or other marketing materials. If you don’t want your images published, ask about the photographer’s policy before booking—not after your session. You should also understand how your images are delivered and what happens after your gallery is completed.

Are you receiving digital files? Are printed photographs available? Does the photographer offer albums or artwork? How long are images stored?

These aren’t awkward questions. They’re important questions.

When you’re investing in boudoir photography, you deserve to know exactly how your images will be handled.

8. Don’t Compare Photographers Based on Price Alone
